This is a well-written, fact-driven article that analyzes the reasoning behind the US's impactful intervention to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb.
A correction. The Marine barracks bombing in Lebanon took place in 1983. In a stain on his record and whose consequences reverberated to the detriment of Western interests, President Reagan responded by ordering the removal of all U.S. troops. The French, also targeted, withdrew their armed forces.
This result was a major victory for the nascent Hezbollah whose patron was Iran.
It should be noted that the US put a bounty on the head of the Hezbollah planners. Last year, Israel took them out in Lebanon.
Another great piece by Ellen Simon. That someone like Zohran Mamdani could win the NYC Dem primary is the logical outgrowth of the marketing of the lies Simon outlines by the likes of Princeton, Brown, Oxford and the rest of the academic poseurs of the Middle East Studies Association who have infested our campuses with fake history, made up statistics, and old fashioned anti-Semitism. (Of course Mamdani didn’t have to “learn” anti-Semitism - he drank it, literally, from his mother’s milk and from sitting at the feet of his BDS-supporting father, a professor at Columbia. No doubt his new wife, Rama Duwaji, who apparently thinks she has something of value to add to issues surrounding Israel/Palestinians, will nurture her husband’s warped views. Laughable enough that Mamdani purports to be able to run NYC when he has never had a serious job in his entire life. Not one. Then again, being an anti-Semite and a founder of the Bowdoin chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine is, for many NYC Dems, qualification enough.)

Yes. It made me cringe a bit that no American president thought to do, or could do, what Israel did.
Incisive commentary. Thank you for your moving words.
